A Christian’s Death…

“…I am the resurrection and the lifeThe one who believes in me will live, even though he dies, and whoever believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25, NIV)

Death is the gateway to a new life, a life so far beyond this limited one that it cannot even be imagined until experienced.  Hence, “the valley of the shadow of death” in Psalm 23: that valley is deep, encased in shadow.  But for the Christian, light awaits – and Life!

The light of the Holy Spirit enlightens the mind and brings hope in the midst of the darkness of the unknown.  The Spirit accompanies this journey, for never is it traveled alone, not for the one who loves Jesus.  “And surely, I am with you always to the very end…” (Matthew 28:18).

The endpoint of the journey is reached when the beloved sees the King of Love face to face, ruling and reigning over all Creation.  The King speaks words of welcome: Well done, faithful one. Enter into my joy and rest now from your labors.

Much love to my two dear friends who have recently lost their faithful spouses: they are held in good Hands, as are you.
