“… Jesus asked him, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’. ‘Lord, I want to see,’ he replied. Jesus said to him, ‘Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you.'” (Luke 18:40-42, NIV)
Insight: “The ability to see and understand clearly the true, inner nature of things…inner sight, wisdom…”
Without the healing touch of Jesus received by an eager, trusting faith, I am left blind to the true nature of reality: Who am I? Why am I here? How am I to live?
“Receive your sight”. Jesus’ words effect what he intends. Those words utterly transform the circumstances of my life. Instead of being simply the product of random chance and without meaning, the details of my life begin to take on a shape which is intentional and meant for my ultimate good. Even my suffering is given meaning: “Take up your cross and follow me…”
I begin to perceive that Love Himself is in charge. I can see now that everything in my life is significant and laden with purpose, readying me for my eternal home with him.
Jesus asks me, “What do you want me to do for you?” Lord Jesus, I want to see – you! For if I see you truly, I shall see everything else – my self, my life, my calling from you, other people, the circumstances of life around me, everything – as it truly is now, and will be in your loving plan from all eternity.
